New numbers are in from Balloon Ventures’ impact study in Uganda.
We worked with an independent research team who surveyed a representative sample of 90 businesses and 326 workers.
The findings are very exciting. Since getting a BV loan, workers’ pay has jumped 52% on average — from around 250k to 380k UGX a month. That matters because small businesses in Uganda haven’t generally been giving raises at all; wages there have actually fallen behind inflation.
The research team stress-tested the numbers hard, even using only verified payslips as proof, and growth still held at +31%.
On top of that, 418 new jobs were created across the same firms.
Real jobs. Real pay rises. Real impact.
